I would just like to preface this by saying that I think the large drop in weight loss this week was mostly water weight. It was terribly hot from Monday to Thursday, so I was just drinking water and sweating it out. My appetite was around the same, but some times it felt too hot to eat so I skipped snacks as well.

Anyways, this week I wanted to break down what motivated me in the past and what keeps motivating me as this journey continues.

I don’t know how to start this off really, but there are a ton of influences that have helped me get to this point. I think I am going to break it down by where I saw their posts, or how I came across the certain people that keep me driven up until this point.

In no way am I associated with any of these people, pages, or companies that I list below. I am not paid and was not asked to write about these specific influences, I just want to give credit where credit is due.

Friends/Family

I think it would be disrespectful if I didn’t list my friends and family first. I originally signed up to Planet Fitness with my Aunt and we’ve regularly gone to the gym together. Unfortunately, I haven’t gone in a while thanks to Coronavirus, but I am excited for when the Gym opens back up and we can go together again. I think it’s brought us closer and has helped us bond.

I don’t want to specifically list any of my friends because I am unsure if they would like their name tied to this. It’s weird to say but I don’t want to associate anyone that may not want it.

But if you have ever sent an encouraging message, liked an update I have posted, sent a workout to me, or been a friend during this whole ordeal, just know that I truly appreciate your friendship and I thank you for it. Whether we worked out together or just chatted about the process, it helps keep me on track. I want to do right by all of you that have helped me and spent the time talking/helping/teaching me, and I think it would be unfortunate if I was not able to complete my goal.

My friends have helped me throughout this entire process whether they know it or not. When I release this, if you ever sent me something positive in regards to weight loss, working out, etc, just know I am speaking of you. I love my friends and family and I legitimately could not stay on track without you.

YouTube

Anabolic Aliens/Mike Rosa

I stumbled upon Mike’s channel on YouTube and have been a fan ever since. From his workouts that are 5-minutes long to using his app on my phone, the Anabolic Aliens’ brand has helped me with workouts. Mike’s positive YouTube videos were the first thing I found and his workouts are intense. I love that you can squeeze them in everywhere. His App is great because it generates workouts for you and I have used exercises from his App to help build workouts for myself.

Steve Cook

Steve is an absolute machine. I find his videos highly entertaining and watch them regularly. He is another positive YouTuber that has an incredible drive and determination, which inspires me to do my best. I am a long way from being on his level in terms of fitness/physique, but he seems like a cool guy to hang around which I why I like watching his videos.

Will Tennyson

This guy is an absolute beast. I stumbled upon his video that showed what he used to eat in a single day back in High School and have been hooked ever since. Like Steve, Will posts entertaining videos regularly. I like his different food and diet experiences, like trying a certain diet for a week because it gives a brief insight into how other people experience food.

Nick Bare

Nick’s determination to fitness is what keeps me going. After starting his nutrition business while stationed in Korea, I have immense respect for him and his brand. He is the newest channel I have found on YouTube that I watch, but I love his videos as well.

All four of these men have an insane dedication to fitness. Seeing what the human body is capable of is a driving factor for me.

Reddit:

r/intermittementfasting

The best part of this page is that it’s a community. With so many people doing intermittent fasting for a variety of reasons, I loved chatting with other people who were going through the same thing I was going through.

r/1500isplenty

When I originally decided to cut calories, I had no idea what type of recipes I could use. This page helped me find tasty recipes that I could use to meal prep and I use this page to this day.

r/loseit

It’s easy to watch Fitness YouTubers and say you want to be like them one day. However, the people on loseit have dedicated a good chunk of their time to losing weight and I respect them. I see weight changes — whether large or small and it inspires me to be the next post on that page.

Instagram
@fitncb

I found this page when browsing Instagram and saved it immediately. I don’t know much about him, but I love that he posts workouts and provides video of the exercise. It is very easy to implement into a routine and easy to follow. I also like that he has a variety of workouts with different pieces of equipment.

Looking back at my week, I upped my calorie intake but some days I felt it was too hot to eat. Again, I believe most of my weight loss this week was water weight, but I think I found a good balance of calories to consume while still being able to lose weight.

Sunday was a big day for me. I am used to walking but wanted to push myself further and see if I could jog/do running exercises. I went to the park with my brother and his girlfriend and I was led through a circuit that was fun. I’ll admit I kind of slacked during the workouts, but I liked seeing that I am able to jog. I was surprised that my cardio wasn’t as terrible as I thought it would be.

I did about 70% of a jog around the track. I did it after the circuit, so I wonder if that impeded on me doing a full lap around. Next Saturday or Sunday I plan on going back to the track and attempting to jog once again.

I think that wraps it up for this week. Again, if you have any comments, questions, or concerns don’t hesitate to contact me on twitter @patrick_trudeau or comment below.
